Aran Islands Excursion

Some pictures from a recent holiday excursion to the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland. The islands are a popular tourist destination and have a number of ancient archeaological sites.

The main island of Inishmore has a population of approximately 900 and is nine miles long. The smaller islands of Inishmaan and Inisheer have populations of approximately 250.

We stayed on Inishmore for two nights and spent a few hours visiting Inisheer.

Each island has its own airstrip with regular flights from Inverin, Co Galway.(http://www.aerarannislands.ie/).

Aran Direct (http://www.arandirect.com/) and Aran Island Ferries (http://www.aranislandferries.com/) serve the islands from Rossaveal, Co Galway and Doolin Ferries (http://www.doolinferries.com/) serve the islands from Doolin, Co Clare.

Great photos of the Aran Islands! I love to see photos from the West of Ireland! I was hoping you might mention our ferry service from Doolin. Cliffs and Aran Cruises also have a daily direct ferry from Doolin, Co. Clare to the Aran Islands. They also do sightseeing cruises to view the Cliffs of Moher from sea level. This is a great way to view the awesome nature of these cliffs. Thanks for reading my comment.
